PR #1327 — Fleet Parity: Add Grok to agent_slots in Default Config Templates

The Broader Goal at the End of the Previous PR

In previous fleet parity milestones (PRs #1308, #1309, #1310), synlynk established runtime and diagnostic equity across the Core 4 harnesses (claude, agy, codex, grok). These advancements enforced strict working directory boundaries, closed-loop instruction receipt verifications, and headless execution flag adaptations.

Strategic Shifts in This PR (if any)

No architectural pivot was required; this PR completes the configuration schema alignment for Core Fleet parity by ensuring runtime defaults match static template generation.

What This PR Shipped

  1. load_config() Default Schema Alignment: Updated defaults["agent_slots"] in synlynk/__init__.py from {"claude": "claude", "agy": "agy", "codex": "codex"} to include grok:
    "agent_slots": {"claude": "claude", "agy": "agy", "codex": "codex", "grok": "grok"}

  2. Synchronized Diagnostics & Profile Checks: With all 4 harnesses present in default agent_slots, synlynk doctor (_hc_agent_profiles) and repair routines (synlynk repair) cleanly discover and validate Grok's agent profile (.agents/grok.json) without requiring explicit manual configuration.
  3. Automated Verification & Regression Tests:
    • Added test_config_add_grok_to_agent_slots_in_synlynk_and_default_config_templates in tests/test_agent_cli.py.
    • Updated test_load_config_has_new_defaults in tests/test_synlynk.py.

Brainstorm Visuals Used

  • docs/brainstorm/model-aware-capability-scoring/model-resolution-chain.html (informed model and harness slot resolution hierarchy).

What This Achieved on the Path to Autonomy

Ensuring all 4 compute harnesses are recognized by default eliminates configuration drift in newly initialized workspaces and automated test fixtures, enabling multi-agent autonomous dispatch loops to seamlessly allocate tasks across the entire Core Fleet.

Strategic Note: The Goal at the End of This PR

With Core Fleet configuration parity established across templates and defaults, the next focus turns to multi-repo workspace agent identity resolution (#914) and recurring harness capability reassessment (#1179).
