PR #TBD — v0.19.0 Release

The Broader Goal at the End of the Previous PR

At the conclusion of v0.18.0, synlynk established harness capability scoring, dispatch reliability, and QA merge-gate authority. However, execution velocity remained gated by conversational turn-taking: agents frequently paused for human reassurance at every micro-step, PRs merged directly into production main, and daemon crashes on macOS could leave role tokens unrefreshed.

Strategic Shifts in This PR

Milestone v0.19.0 adopted the Autonomy Trinity codified in docs/superpowers/specs/2026-09-10-layered-release-autonomous-operations-design.md:

  1. Layered Release Topology: Introduced unstable as the multi-agent automated integration trunk, staging as the 48-hour soak track, and main as the GA release baseline.
  2. Launch DAG & Unattended Milestone Loop: Transformed milestone execution from manual task-by-task prompting into an event-driven DAG runner (synlynk run --milestone <M> --unattended) that autonomously dispatches, verifies, reviews, and merges independent tasks.
  3. Control Plane Self-Healing: Eradicated silent daemon failures by resolving GitHub App keys to absolute paths, recovering orphaned flock locks, and enabling dual-ledger write-through synchronization to local fallback databases.

What This PR Shipped

  • Sprint 1 (CI Multiplier): Added pytest-xdist with parallel test execution (-n auto --dist loadfile), slashing CI execution time from 9+ minutes down to 90 seconds.
  • Sprint 2 (Control Plane Resilience): Hardened synlynk/daemon.py with stale lockfile recovery, absolute RSA key resolution across worktrees, and dual-ledger state sync in synlynk probe and synlynk doctor.
  • Sprint 3 (Topology & Dispatch Hardening): Directed default dispatch targets to unstable, added path boundary guards in synlynk/worktree.py, and cleaned up 48 orphaned branches.
  • Sprint 4 (Reconciler & DAG Engine): Fixed LIVE-12 with --gh-write-expect support, protected log paths during zombie worktree reaping, guarded against transient git OS errors, and delivered synlynk/launch_dag.py with the synlynk run --milestone <M> CLI verb.
  • Spec Verification: Added comprehensive test suites across all new subsystems, bringing the collected test count to 2,734 tests.

What This Achieved on the Path to Autonomy

Human operators are no longer required to babysit multi-stage milestone execution. By routing all autonomous dispatches to unstable and reserving human escalation strictly for designated reserved approval gates (via assigned GitHub issues under reserved-gate), synlynk can run overnight milestone sprints with complete trunk protection.

Strategic Note: The Goal at the End of This PR

With the control plane, layered topology, and DAG engine in place, the focus shifts to Milestone v0.20.0: Visual Workspace, Autonomous Onboarding & Fleet Resilience: delivering BS-6 visual cockpit views (Product, Logical, Infra), an in-browser 1-click GitHub App role creation wizard, scope-bounded sparse worktrees (git sparse-checkout --cone), unified 4-point diagnostic attestation in synlynk doctor --readiness, and first-class Meta Muse harness support.
